To connect they can either enter a password or check into your business using Facebook. When people check in a post appears in their news feed telling all their friends they’re at your business. In addition Facebook can supply you with anonymous user data like age, gender and interests. This could prove useful to gain a clearer demography of your customers and peak business hours.

Facebook WIFI also allows you to advertise special offers and products by highlighting these on the homepage of your Facebook page. Special deals can be set up just for people who check in.

So what is Facebook getting from it? To avail of this service small businesses need to set up a business page and maintain it. They hope to eventually convert these to ad space buyers.
